Updated: Star Wars Conquest (Mount and Blade)

Star Wars: Conquest is an ambitious total conversion for Mount and Blade that replaces ye olde fantasy plains of Calradia with a galaxy far, far away. It’s just been updated, which is as good an excuse as any to highlight this pretty impressive conversion.

The mod basically catapults Mount and Blade into space, replacing the familiar old campaign map with one made up of star systems and travelling ships. The rules of the game remain unchanged, you’ll still be trading with colonies, forging alliances, hiring warriors and waging war, but now you’ll be hiring storm troopers and jedi instead of men with axes and silly hats.

It’s really quite well done. Everything looks and sounds authentic and Jedi force powers and lightsabres have been added too. The engergy shields are a little innocuous, but necessary to retain the nuances of M&B’s solid combat. Also, it replaces the all the horses with landspeeders, which is hilarious for reasons that escape me.

Anyway, it’s just been updated and can be downloaded right here. You’ll need Mount and Blade to run it of course.

Is there a mod-able game that won’t get a star wars mod?

  2. No. It is decreed that ‘all games touched by the hand of Mod shall receiveth Star Wars total conversions or else suffer a most terrible fate’. It’s basically the law.

  3. You say that like it’s a bad thing :P I’m actually really looking forward to the Arma II SW mod, despite me not actually having the game yet :P

I didn’t mean to imply negativity, I just found it amusing.

    Oh cool.

F*ck I’ve got work to do! Must resist the lure of M&B and Star Wars combined together!

Is this mod as polished and well-balanced as say, Native Expansion?

  7. They’re doing different things. Native Expansion looks to refine and expand the core Mount and Blade experience while Conquest is more reskinning it and adding some cool toys to play with. It’s still in a beta state at the moment so it’s a little rough around the edges, but it’s in pretty good shape.
