Empires is awe inspiring in the ridiculous ambition it proudly shows off. It takes Natural Selection’s RTS/FPS hybrid awesomesauce, mixes it in with some large scale warfare a la Battlefield, and serves it all to you, through the wonders of the modding world, with a side-dish of kickass.
With more fixes than you can shake a particularly shaky stick at, as well as maps, vehicles, skins, and other assorted amazingness, the newly released Empires 2.25 looks like it’ll pack the servers for awhile to come.
It’s also a surprisingly small mod, so definitely worth getting hold of you’ve got any Source game – and if not, you deserve to burn for your sins.
UPDATE: Also, it looks like a small patch, 2.25a, was also released. Go forth and download!
