Mod Our Comments: Underappreciated?

Welcome to Mod Our Comments!  No idea what this is meant to be?  Well good, nor do I.  In this newest attempt at a weekly, regular column/idea/thing, we’re going to be asking you, our ever-so-precious readers, your incredible, sexy, ever-so-justified opinions, and hopefully it’ll degenerate into some sort of debate/flame war/internet trolling session.

The topic for this week?  Just to be incredibly original and innovative, we’re going for the oft-used:What’s the most underappreciated mod out there?  We’re curious, so tell us.  I’m pining for Multi-Theft-Auto.  Or possibly The Specialists.

PS: If you can think of a cunning name for this column-thing, then tell us that as well. I is not clever enough for a decent pun.

  1. Just to justify my sanctimonious opinions, I think both of them failed to get the huge praise they deserved – the Specialists lay down and died eventually, despite being amazingly addictive, and MTA still hasn’t been played by the vast majority of gamers because of it’s San Andreas heritage.

    Nestlings, obv. ;-)

im not sure whether i should vote for eternal silence or SMOD Troopers

both are solid slices of awesome and neither get many online players,

i personally would love to see a server that hosts SMOD troopers coop deathmatch mode, its the best

  4. SMOD looks awesome! Downloading :)

    It’s dead but:

It was a great but underappreciated mod, you could walk on walls/ceilings changing the gravity and you had 1 gun with a whole slew of mode, from nailgun firing homing nailguns to push people off the platforms to shotgun and beam mode. You could have 2 modes active at a time making it an interesting form of making choices.

Maybe not most underappreciated though, but close second to Decadence for me.

Decadence was in my opinion a really great mod, it had some small issues that could have been fixed over the time, it died out and got bad comments though because of a larger issue, only 2 players versus 2 others. If your partner was a griefer, newbie or afk then you didn’t stand a chance against 2 people that worked properly together.

With 2 proper teams though it was a great mod, very tactical but without being crazily realistic like other tactical games, you could take a modest amount of bullets, could regenerate health and could be revved infinitely by your partner.

Regardless of that it was tactical and provided both teams were balanced then it was an amazingly fun mod.

Well it’s not released yet but Infinity – The Quest for Earth.

It’s not out and looks like it is a long way from release but I would say it’s one of the most ambitious games let alone mods.

  7. DuckSauce says:

I wouldn’t call it underappreciated, I think alot of people will jump at the chance to try it when it does release.

It’s also a standalone game, not a mod at all.

  8. Intergalactic Trooper says:

    It’s Nestlings.

  9. Lewis says:

Intergalactic Trooper got the right answer.

  10. DrGonzo says:

Yup, I really did just fail then. Apparently my brain isn’t working properly today so I will have to think of something tomorrow.
