Oh, you shouldn’t have: A free gift from OpenOutcast

Well, well. It’s not progress as such, perhaps, but this is still a nice gesture. Certainly makes a change from a couple of untextured renders of a new riot shotgun model. If you missed its appearance on UserCreated before, OpenOutcast is the ambitious total conversion planning to create a sequel to Appeal’s 1999 classic third-person action adventure in Crysis’ engine. (You can buy the original on GoG, if you like. It still holds up remarkably well.)

Work’s still ticking along, apparently, with the team planning out the first main region in the game. So they’d like to give you a present as a reward for your patience. Rather than uploading screens to ModDB, they’ve made a little 20-page digital artbook of their concept sketches so far available as a free download on their website. Opinions may vary, obviously, but I think it’s pretty good. Certainly brings back memories. You can grab it for yourself here.
